- A busy week at work, with a number of in-flight features and fixes, especially ahead of a Dev Platform release
- Been a fun week on Kingshot, burning through a lot of things with TC30 and Alliance Mobilization competing with one of the other alliance members
- Accidentally spent a lot of speedups getting to TC30 (more than I needed) as well as accidentally doing a Governor Gear upgrade I didn't mean to
- Our kettle died - after almost dying the day Anna's family came over for Christmas - so we had a whole 24 hours without any tea capabilities which was the worst!
- I lie, we did try boiling water on the hob, and it was not a good experience
- And a shame as last weekend we didn't end up finding a kettle, so we had to rush to get something
- Worse, was that it was on the same day the MOT, so we couldn't even drive to the shops and pick up a new one!
- A couple of big blog posts for work this week:
- The first 100 days as a Renovate maintainer: the shocking inside view of a popular Open Source project (slightly clickbait, I know!)
- Got some reasonable level of views, but not quite as much discussion as I'd hoped
- Tried using ChatGPT to give me an "interview-style news programme look" with me being interviewed about it, and it was very weird and uncanny what it could do, including slightly changing my photo to make it look like I was looking at the interviewer
- What I've learned building an agent for Renovate config (as a cautious skeptic of AI) (originally planned for early December)
- I've spent a fair bit of the week periodically checking if it was posted, and then I missed it being put live on Friday because the HackerNoon email went into spam π (and I was very busy)
- And working on 2 other posts, even though they're not quite ready to go out
- The first 100 days as a Renovate maintainer: the shocking inside view of a popular Open Source project (slightly clickbait, I know!)
- Almost got my self-assessments finished and ready, but getting some second opinions before I submit
- Now it's in a better place, I've had a chance to look at some future management options with
ledger/hledgerand being able to track these a little more nicely with plain text - I'll get a blog post out about it this week, once I've definitely finished my self assessments, as it's pretty cool and useful, and nice to be able to more straightforwardly query the data
- Especially good as it's been taking up a lot of my brain space, even when I'm not actively working on it
- Now it's in a better place, I've had a chance to look at some future management options with
- Had a lovely catch-up with Ellie and Linh
- Also had a lovely catch-up with Rich
- Nice to hear from Nikos and Joe
- A very late day working on Thursday, with a couple of gnarly bugs trying to get resolved
- Was weird driving the car after the MOT, with all the settings out of where they're meant to be, but managed to get them sorted before I got home
- Got some good usage out of
crushthis week for bootstrapping testing repos for Renovate-y things
