- A very cold week, with snow starting on Monday, frozen pipes on Tuesday, and Storm Goretti later in the week
- We'd planned to have Monday off (as part of a nice 5-day weekend) but didn't realise until last weekend that doggy daycare was open - as we were able to book her in, instead of her usual Tuesday, it meant we could go into town on Monday which was nice
- Although it was a very chilly day given the snow, so we had to be much more wrapped up than usual, and careful where we stood!
- But we had a really lovely time and I spent a fair bit of money at Glass Onion and Cow getting some cool new bits, and then picked up a couple of other bits at Fatface and M&S, and a mooch around Hopkinson
- Had a nice lunch at Hey Danna! (one of our choices for lunch, but the top of the list that was actually open) including a few types of Sake to test
- Off the back of discussing on Hacker News about Ghostty's GitHub Discussions triage process I wrote about how we use Discussions with Renovate - although it maybe didn't get as much traction as I'd hoped on the socials, it was good to write, and goes into a lot of detail that I found useful and interesting
- Relatedly, finally got around to working on a better interface for triaging Renovate Discussions, based on how we manage the project
- Managed to build the bulk of the data syncing layer - including some fun time slowly getting rate limited by GitHub - in the day, with a lil' bit of help from Copilot
- But as a first pass, I now have an SQLite database I can start querying, bundled into Evidence for an MVP frontend that works very nicely, and I'm sure I'll start getting a lot of benefit from
- On Tuesday, we woke up to a significantly chillier house than we expected - as the boiler had gone off overnight, and the pipes had frozen π₯Άπ¬
- Very frustratingly, the pressure had dropped (again...) on the new boiler - we're getting it looked at
- But it meant ~5 kettles worth of hot water on the pipe - once we'd found which one - and managed to get it back up
- Unfortunately no Asda pizza again this week, but had a nice Fireaway pizza which also made for such an easy leftover dinner tonight which was nice
- My executive function has been pretty shot this week, only really lasting for the work day - but this weekend I've been able to get some bits done
- This weekend I did manage to clear out a load of paperwork, work out what needs actioning, and getting rid of 3 years of "your ... is up for renewal"
- And we managed to make some good progress with a few things about the house that have been annoying us
- The Christmas decorations came down on Monday, and the living room is now back to normal
- But we've put another blanket on the second sofa, and keep coming down to Morph being happily cuddled up on it π₯°
- Yesterday, Morph started playing with a bit of paper (that we'd wrapped a treat for Cookie in) and was having a bit of fun mashing it about. We joked that it'd be funny if Cookie got jealous and stole it from Morph ... ha ha right? Well, she stole it. Morph then started licking her head (she was good and a little apprehensive) and then he started smacking her and got fairly angry at her π We broke it up very quickly, and neither seemed to be harmed (especially good as Cookie didn't fight back)
- This morning, I went to pick Morph up (as he was by the garage door cat flap) and he hissed at me, which y'know, I'm slightly used to as an overly needy pet parent. But then later he went back to the cat flap and hissed - I wondered if it was related, but then I heard what sounded like movement in the garage π Armed with a bread knife (in case of it maybe being a fox that went to attack me), I went into the garage and found a neighbourhood cat who'd managed to get into the garage (as the external cat flap was slightly open) and was very affectionate, but couldn't be allowed to stay
- After I'd managed to get the cat into the garden, we let Cookie out of the living room and when she saw the cat in the garden she was piiiised but wasn't allowed to go and help the cat along until it was safely out of distance
- Feeling a little deaf tonight as Cookie has been barking a lot
- Realised my custom RSS-to-LinkedIn cross-poster wasn't working as my access token had expired, so needed to (remember how to) refresh it
- Enjoying the new Apex Legends mode which merges SSX3 with an FPS game
