A busy week ahead of hosting the Dodsons this weekend for Christmas:
A lovely weekend hosting the family and catching up
We both had Friday off to do the last bits of sorting and tidying and getting bits ready in the house which was very much needed, on top of bits we've been doing on-and-off for a few weeks!
Got some lovely gifts from my Secret Santa
The 12 person Christmas lunch (for 8, in the end) went well
- I spent a fair bit of Saturday spreadsheeting up the instructions, what oven + tray, etc - including a last-minute trip to Sainsburys to buy some new trays, on recommendation of Jamie's notes after 2024's Christmas dinner - and that made a huge difference
- Cookie being better also made a difference as we then could focus a little more on cooking, and as the timings/etc were clearer, I was able to better communicate where I needed help
My legs are tired from being on my feet all weekend, being a good host π (and a nice walk at Gravelly Hollow yesterday)
Cookie's been very good this weekend - there were some outbursts, and bits where she's felt frustrated to not be around everyone, but has spent a lot of time either on her own in our bedroom or the conservatory but very nicely chilling which we were very proud of, and made things a lot less stressful than in previous years
While chatting on one day, managed to make a good effort cleaning the air fryer - something that's needed doing for a bit, but moreso when air frying the gammon and some level of smoke starting up π
Otherwise:
- Dropping Morph off at the cattery, was distracted on my way home and was in the wrong lane, so accidentally went onto the M1 for a junction π
- Spent another Β£5 on Kingshot now the floodgates have opened
- Spent a bit of the work week clearing out the backlog of Discussions, as well as raising a few Discussions/Issues that I've had on my TODO list for a bit, and making changes to secure folks by default
- Had a bit of a brainworm with a song appearing in my mind for a song I know and have listened to many times recently, but couldn't picture the name and eventually found that it was Reaper - XLR8 (Audioscribe Remix) which is excellent
- I spent a fair bit of Friday refreshing my feed to listen to Changelog's State of the Log - or at the very least, my own segment! - but was good to hear what Adam and Jerod, and all the other listener submissions, had to say and share
- Unfortunately won't be speaking at FOSDEM, but planning on getting a blog post out for the talk I'd planned!
