Week Notes 25#44

  • A busy work week, in particular continuing towards the next major release of Renovate, this coming Thursday, with a number of things to get in with the release
  • A slow Monday, after the drive, but got my Week Notes published before work
  • A good week for swag!
    • Got my new starter kit from Mend
    • And the earliest delivery of a Hacktoberfest t-shirt, arriving before the month was even over!
  • Not gotten around to it yet, but I need to watch The Matrix soon, after reddit sniping me into how great it is
  • No pizza for the second week in a row 😞
  • Managed to get a chunk of oapi-codegen work done yesterday - shipping a long overdue "post release bug fixes" for a couple of issues
    • But did require some tangents + tweaks on the Renovate config to get it into a better place to manage
  • Had a fairly good chores day today - and managed to sort out the mostly-dead GU10 Hue lights in the kitchen
  • Morph and Cookie have been having a great time together on the sofa 🥰
  • Had a fairly concerning email from AWS last night, with a significant jump in my CloudFront bill, and spent a chunk of time this morning investigating it further, having enabled AWS WAF and CloudFront access logs
    • I've noticed this month a significant uptick in scraping from China - I've temporarily nudged them to going through a CAPTCHA while I investigate + limit traffic to the main problematic users - sorry for readers who are annoyed, I hate CAPTCHAs too
  • Had some fun outsourcing some work to GitHub Copilot to grab all the Discussion comments from the Renovate project, so I could check for some common things

    • Season 5 was overall a bit more middling compared to previous seasons

    • We didn't get more than about a 1/3 through this 😅
