A fairly busy week with GopherCon UK:
- Had a nice lunch with Anna's parents on Monday as they brought Cookie back - including opening up the Costco margarita mix πΈ (which we've been continuing on this week)
- Absolutely shattered this weekend after a good few - but tiring - days at GopherCon UK
- Cookie's been very cute this weekend π₯°
- Getting some interesting feedback from
vale
and improving my writing (as well as ignoring some things) - Made some tweaks to my Charm TUI for my Matomo stats
In GopherCon UK:
- It was great!
- Managed to finish my writeup on Friday - mostly on the train - and allowed it to then be out of my head (and x-posted to reddit)
- Had a nice time at the speakers dinner on Wednesday - sitting with some folks I did and did not know, and helping break the ice a little
- I found it funny that so many of the speakers have ADHD - I wonder if there's something that draws us to it!
- Didn't end up taking any photos π«£
- Met a lot of lovely people over the conference - I was thinking of mentioning you all by name, but y'all may not enjoy that, so I'm sure you know who you are π
- Was funny being recognised as "hey, you're Jamie Tanna from that blog I read!" or, in a slightly lesser capacity, as the
oapi-codegen
maintainer - Was lovely bumping into + catching up with Berni!
- My feet were very sore from standing/walking a lot, but thankfully I wore my comfiest shoes and so the each day they didn't hurt as much the next day
In "new job":
- Got a nice bottle of champagne from one of the folks I know there, which was very nice of them - looking to open it with my parents in a few weeks
- Not yet finished up the blog post to announce it - maybe this week? π
In oapi-codegen
:
- Been making a good set of progress towards scoping out what OpenAPI 3.1 support looks like, ahead of some paid work towards it in September
- Got some good thoughts from a few folks using
oapi-codegen
over the conference, and get some more feedback to take into account the project's direction
In Dependency Management Data:
- Got some good feedback on my workshop-y session at GopherCon UK, and got some more folks very interested - had ~15 folks?
- With Go 1.25 out, looking at what a "don't use Go 1.25 when you're using
github.com/uber-go/automaxprocs
" advisory looks like (first looking at it with work's data, then I'll get an upstream version available)
Generally, in Go:
- My proposal for
encoding/jsonc
was rejected - Fighting older versions of
x/tools
not working on Go 1.25, blockingoapi-codegen
from building with 1.25, as it'll force us to migrate to a newer minimum Go version
