Week Notes 25#28

  • Got my hair cut - felt very much needed, as it was getting a lil' unruly, and it's nicer for the video podcasts I've been on recently
  • A busy-ish week at work:
    • Lots of Decision Doc + Design Doc writing
    • And bits of playing around with Argo Workflows
  • Fallthrough was fun this week - I was much more prepared and also less brain fuzzy, and generally feeling like I was a better co-host
  • A couple of important calls have loomed over me this week, but both went well and my impatience / possible dread has been lifted
  • But it was all OK and worth it, and given the news, celebrated with a Miss Korea takeaway on Friday (largely because Asda didn't have pizza)
  • Perfect pizza - on Saturday 😱 On Friday, I went, and they didn't have our pizza bases!! Risked it on Saturday - around 1715 - and managed to get perfect pizza about 15 minutes before they closed!
  • Tonight we went to see Tim Minchin which was fun πŸ˜„
  • Morph's been quite needy this week - joining me for a couple of meetings, and Cookie seemed surprisingly OK with that
  • Some bad nights sleep (Cookie barking, and it being a bit toasty)
  • Back to crap weather this weekend, with a couple of soggy walks with Cookie
  • Put my hat in the ring for the Changelog++ supporter game of #define πŸ‘€
  • Fixed a few 404s that Google found on my website
  • A catch-up with Alec was a nice way to end the week!

In oapi-codegen:

  • Was an oapi-codegen day (from May/June) at work, so managed to ship a - long overdue - release
    • Thought I'd get this release out ASAP, given August is super busy, and there's a number of big features I want to get out there, as well as it being ages since last release (September last year)
  • As is the duality of Open Source - within a few minutes of posting to /r/golang, I had two comments, effectively:
    • "Yay, thank you!"
    • "The maintainer isn't replying to me" (which is fair and understandable)
  • Doing some more thinking about how we can better drive a balance between vocal users, priorities of the masses, long outstanding bugs/features, UX improvements, and i.e. work towards OpenAPI 3.1
  • My post about "tricking" oapi-codegen into working with OpenAPI 3.1 was featured in Golang Weekly

In DMD:

  • Made some good progress on my talk for Manchester Gophers
  • Got Copilot to write a "format SQL code blocks inside Markdown files" which has been very nice for working with Evidence and has massively improved my quality-of-life

Watched:

  • Squid Game
    • Making a start on season 3
    • Finally looked up simnida's meaning, hearing it quite a few times
  • Schitt's Creek
    • Into the last season, such a good ending πŸ’œ
  • Smartypants Presentations (on YouTube)
