- I had a fairly chilled (but toasty) start to the week
- Had Take a Moment playing a lot this week πΆ
- A very bad night with foxes π
- Found Morph in the garage, who seems to be enjoying the cool temperature in there, as well as being very naughty because he's not meant to be in there π
- Spent ages looking for my notebook (which I've been planning for me DMD tutorial at GopherCon), only to realise I did have it already, I'd not realised it was on a few pages earlier π«£
- Cookie had a good time with Anna's parents, and has been fast asleep all afternoon π₯°
- Had a good mid-week catch-up with Rhys
- Now a bit bored of Kingshot given I'm now at more of the PvP vs base building side of things
- Made some progress with tidying my office
- My zsh history post was in Ruby Weekly this week
- Got an early call tomorrow, which will set the stage for the week
A lovely few days in Brussels ππΊ:
- It was such a good holiday, we completely switched off, enjoyed it and had some good - not too hot - weather
- Ended up having a number of good beers
- Managed to - somehow - get packed + ready on Wednesday ~an hour early down to London, which gave us more time to get M&S supplies for the Eurostar
- Both trains were nice, but the Eurostar was so much nicer
- It was a little stressful getting the Eurostar, as there was a cancelled and delayed train before us, and lots of people hanging around - it meant there was a lot of apprehension/anxious energy waiting for the train with all the other people, but was fortunately OK
- We got in in the evening and went for a walk around
- As we were walking, we heard some drumming, and turned around and saw a load of old-timey people π€
- It turns out it was the Ommegang - which we'd not noticed ahead of time
- We watched for a bit, hanging next to some horses who were a little anxious while they were waiting, milling about a bit and even making sparks as they hooved at the ground
- The weather had thankfully cooled - it was ~34 in the day, and ~22 when we were there, with some rain that had simplified things
- We had a drink and watched the show - including a particularly exciting bit where some people on ~8 foot high stilts fought each other - bashing into each other with their shoulders, and trying to knock the stilt legs out from each other, and the last two fell within a few seconds of each other!
- Had a good breakfast at Cove
- Had a good walking tour on Thursday morning, finding some more about the city, its history, some recommendations for where to go and was a good bit of culture
- We ended up having some good sandwiches at Pistolet Original near the end of the walk, as it was a recommended one
- After a bit of a walk, we went to Maison Dandoy for a waffle and coffee
- With the waffle still filling us up, we ended up sharing a meal at Wolf, and had a very good African meal, before the tour
- We had then booked a "dark side of Brussels" tour for the evening, thinking it would be more true crime style - it was interesting but a fair bit of crossover, and not at all as deep in the true crime as we'd hoped
- Afterwards, we went to Baladi for a very good chicken shawarma and homemade iced teas - Yasmina and Mahsouta - were super tasty, and loved the little bits of edible flowers in them
- I picked it namely based on the name - as in Egypt, there used to be "baladi bread" that was π - and the photos looked good, so we went, and were very glad to have picked it!
- On Friday, we had a chilled start to Anna's birthday, and then went to Frank for a very good brunch - we went for the brunch special, and had a lot of food π
- We had a lovely dinner at Brasserie des Alexiens
- My steak was huge but very good
- And a little post-dinner walk across town to find an open cash machine, so we could leave a tip
- We had Cove again on our last day, ahead of our train home which was convenient
- As we'd upgraded our train on the way back to Eurostar Plus, we got a nice meal and a tea, and some slightly nicer seats (although the regular seats were already good!)
- Nice to meet up with Mum and Dad for lunch at Drake and Morgan and a coffee at the British Library
- We managed to get home ~90 minutes earlier than the train we'd booked on (knowing we'd likely pull it forwards) and then as there were some cancellations/delays, we shuffled around things, and got an earlier connection at Grantham which was good
- As we were back earlier, I did a lil' Sainsburys shop to set us up for the week, and got a nommy Rakki Rakkas π
- Fixed one of my office's wardrobe doors which has not been opening properly for a bit
In Dependency Management Data:
- Added
package_type
torenovate_updates
- We can now automagically discover end-of-life data via endoflife.date π
- Not quite finished up the example + blog for Evidence + DMD, but hoping to get it sorted this week, as it's been looking very good for work's setup
- Started the work for adding
package_type
toadvisories
, but didn't manage to get some more on it done given it would require a bit of refactoring, and I didn't want to merge it before going on holiday and possibly breaking things
Reading:
- The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
- Been a really great read, and a lot of contemporary parallels and some quotes that are very on the nose right now π«£
- Triggered a lot of background Star Wars research, as well as research into fascism, socialism, communism, and a whole host of other things
Watched:
- Taskmaster
- An amazing end to an amazing series, and second place was very deserved by the person who got it!
- Taskmaster bits on YouTube
- Murderbot
- Ghosts
- Schitt's Creek
- Blockers
