Week Notes 25#24

  • A very hot week 🥵
  • Given the fair's at Woodthorpe Park, I've been taking Cookie to Forest Rec (after dropping Anna at the tram) which has been nice
  • Some mixed nights' sleep:
    • one night we had awful shrieking foxes
    • it's been super hot this week so been hard to stay cool
    • one night - as I was reading - Morph started yeowling, and I was worried it was a fox that he wasn't happy about, so rushed downstairs, and found him squaring up with another cat
  • Accidentally smashed a milk bottle while rushing to get to work - inevitably making me much later while trying to clean it up and make sure it was safe for Cookie in the kitchen
  • Spent Friday doing some AI-y bits at work (to help demonstrate some of the benefits we can see in our teams) helping reduce a key point of toil for our on-call
  • Had Let You Go - Bare Up on repeat a looot this week as it's a banger, and has helped focus too
    • (there's nothing to read into this or the lyrics)
  • Nice Thursday drinks out at Neon Raptor
    • I managed to get there super early to make sure I got the order at Working Man's Kitchen, but they were closed 😱
    • Had some good food + drinks at Bustler
  • Had a nice catch-up with Keith
  • Booked to see Stevie Martin in November at Canalhouse 🤩
  • The TV's getting fixed tomorrow 🚀
  • Had a nice Saturday lunch out at The Crimson Tree
  • Managed to perfectly miss the rain every day this weekend i.e. getting into the car after our walk on Saturday morning, the heavens opened
  • Had a nice lunch out at Yo Sushi today, and got some new super comfy trainers for Brussels
  • Been making a good set of progress on prepping for my Dependency Management Data tutorial at GopherConUK
    • Doing some DMD-y bits
    • But mostly playing around with evidence.dev to visualise data
    • Made some strides for really nicely preparing visualisation for work's setup
    • And started on DMD's example project for the same, which will also feed into preparing a "follow along" mode for the workshop

Played:

  • Totally Accurate Battlegrounds
    • As there were server issues with Apex Legends and it was fun

Reading:

  • Sunrise on the Reaping
    • Great ending and fleshes out some good background on a lot of things!

Watched:

  • Taskmaster
    • Was a bit distracting with the bingo minigame but was fun
  • Murderbot
  • Atomic Blonde
  • Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster
  • Ghosts
  • Shifty
  • Schitt's Creek
