Week Notes 24#06

  • Monday was doing a few bits at work ahead of being off for a couple of days, and then finalising my talk + blog post before the big day
  • My week was largely taken up by State of Open Con, which was great!
    • My talk went well, and although I was in one of the bigger tracks, I had about the same sort of numbers as some of the smaller tracks which was nice. Looking forward to sharing the video when it's out
    • Was cool to hear someone - doing a talk about SBOMs in government - had already tried to use dependency-management-data, but that they'd not found it worked quite for some of the use cases they needed, which appears to be due to a misunderstanding by me around how folks may be continually building + layering their SBOMs, instead of having one just "done"
    • I'll be doing more of a writeup soon ℒ️
    • Met a number of new folks - including a couple I'd only ever seen/heard on social media or podcasts - as well as seeing some folks I've not seen for a while, which was nice 😊
    • Took it easier on Wednesday morning and treated myself to Eggslut πŸ˜‹ and was very appreciative that they gave me some free hashbrowns too, which were very πŸ˜‹
  • After listening to a podcast on dependency freshness I finally got around to looking at Libyear and added support into dependency-management-data - it's flagged some interesting data, but I think I need to rethink how I recommend using Ecosyste.ms due to performance concerns
  • I was mentally a bit beat so took a few days off doing Octordle, but at the weekend caught up after I felt a bit refreshed
  • Now State of Open Con is out of the way, I've been able to start thinking about me being on Changelog and Friends this coming week 😱 I've got a Google Doc I've been putting trains of thought that we may want to follow
  • Did a last lesson with Trevor on the motorway, so I could have a safe-ish introduction to going zoom zoom
    • A bit nerve wracking, my first time in 5th (and then 6th!) gear, but before long I was happily overtaking and changing lanes at 70mph
    • Very glad I've done it, especially as the weather wasn't perfect, but j
  • Had some good chats at the TODO Group touchpoint chat on Friday
  • Bit disappointed to have finished Cat Snack Bar's levels, and so am waiting for the next levels to be created, which means I'm kinda stuck and it's much less engaging πŸ˜… The event levels are super slow working, and the event in between them will be wasted given I can't progress any further
  • Did a big shop on Friday, enjoying the freedom that having the car means and going in with the "what would I want to buy with my own money", and it turns out, a lot πŸ™ˆ But also got pizza for Friday and a Valentine's dinner for Saturday which was πŸ₯°
  • On the way back from Asda picked up our first tank of petrol
  • Drove us for a roast at the Larch Farm which was πŸ˜‹
  • The old-ish kitchen spatula has finally died - after being rather floppy for some time - and fortunately we've got a newer one that I've been preferring for some time anyway
  • Confirmed that I'm speaking at TechFast in a couple of weeks and already wondering how I'm going to wake up that early 😹
  • Cleaned up the CI setup for oapi-codegen's repos, as well as getting it building on Go 1.22
  • Updated dependency-management-data to be on Go 1.22, too
  • Was nice to see Carol this afternoon for a bit
  • Started looking at net/http-only support for oapi-codegen

Watched:

  • SNL (on YouTube)
  • The Bear
  • The Good Witch
  • The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
  • The Hunger Games
  • Catching Fire
  • Mockingjay (Part 1)
