"What's the point of the vaccine if you still get #COVID19?" Well, I had it once before the vaccine and was sick for 2 months, ended up in the ER with partially collapsed lungs, was left with asthma. I had it once post-vaxx, and it was a mild flu. Was feeling fine after a week.Julia Ioffe (@juliaioffe)Fri, 07 Jan 2022 19:32 GMT

I haven't yet but I feel like that's 50% luck and 50% not acting like the pandemic is over yet.

We could have ended COVID before it became a pandemic by just taking some simple measures - masks, tests, contact tracing doing and some local lockdowns back in early 2020. We could have ended it before Omicron by lifting patents and distributing vaccines throughout the worldRosa Astra (@morganastra)Mon, 03 Jan 2022 19:53 GMT
The coronavirus API documentation, specifically, is the gold standard by which all API docs should be assessed. It’s clear! It generates URLs you can paste into your code! It regards helping people get to the info as a point, rather than seeing the API as an exam you have to pass

Some personal news (a 🧵): On 4 October 2021, I resigned from my role as the Deputy Head of Software Engineering for Web and Data at @UKHSA. If Psaki won't even go into the same room with more than 14 triple-vaxxed, regularly tested and masked people, you shouldn't have to go to work and you definitely shouldn't send your kids to school.

4/ the virus can only infect people that are having a good time and not a boring time. That’s why it spreads at parties and other social gatherings but not at schools or workplaces.

Here's a calculation about the CDC that I'm not sure many people have made so here we go, I hope this helps. The CDC's job is not to keep *you* alive. The CDC's job is simply to keep enough people alive that the country doesn't go extinct.Kate Taggart (@qkate)Tue, 28 Dec 2021 16:46 GMT
From the beginning of the pandemic, I've made a point of being a bit more cautious than the CDC's guidelines, not just bc I'm in a medically vulnerable group, but because my motivations (keep myself alive) and the CDC's (keep enough Americans alive, with Kate or not) don't match.

42% of the world's population - 3.8 billion people - are unvaccinated. Because Pfizer, Moderna and J and J refuse to share vaccine technology, and G7 governments refuse to make them. Let's make "everyone's going to get it" a call for global vaccine equity. #PeoplesVaccine
