Early at Chef, a customer kept hitting a bug. It had to be some hard dist. system problem. Senior engineers had been debugging for days. White boards filled with TCP sequence diagrams. I solved it with an nginx config change. I've been chasing that feeling of elation ever since.

I'm still chasing the high I discovered back in the day when I minimized some JS and turned on http compression in IIS 6. Shaved a few gigs of transfer and knocked 30% off the load time of our site. It still feels good a decade later.

Some, as they say, ✨personal news✨ As of today, I’ve left the AWS containers team + I’ve moved over to EC2. I’ll be working on security + incident response (+ the usual Linux things) Still @awscloud, still here for Qs etc, still not here for foot fetish msgsAbby Fuller (@abbyfuller)Mon, 02 Mar 2020 17:32 GMT

Please stop saying things are "easy" I'm happy you've put in the work to help you understand a thing easily, but it can be hurtful to definitively say "X is easy" and not understand your own proclivity for learning X. Being a woman in tech is essentially working twice as hard as your male counterparts and receiving half, or none of, the credit. I am so freaking tired of being asked why I changed my last name instead of discussing my technical achievements.Emma Bostian 🐞 (@EmmaBostian)Mon, 02 Mar 2020 18:51 GMT

The amount of push back I get on prs that delete this code is unreal. Source control exists for a reason folks
Post details
Devs: please delete your code. Don't leave it commented out, or just in the repo as functions and files and modules that don't get called. Delete it while you know what it was for, so that the next person doesn't have to figure it out. Source control never forgets it.
