"Securing the (open source) software supply chain" naturally focuses attention "upstream" in the supply chain. And there is so much to do _downstream_ in how we assemble and operate software more securely. Improvements downstream don't need to wait on investments upstream.Matthew S. Go is one of my favorite programming languages, but it is still far from perfect.

One thing I love about the SA role at AWS: we can take 20% of our time for self-learning and experimenting.

What companies should do instead? * offer dedicated time to learn - and empower employees to actually use this time, so that they don't feel like shit when they study when others are fixing bugsGregory Witek (@gregorywitek)Sat, 15 Jan 2022 11:56 GMT

Not a hit on Nicolas, if we want to be more inclusive to folks who canβt spend out of hours time on personal development we need processes and/or culture which allows us to do so. I really donβt see this as option for a high performing team/individual.

I have no idea how folks are effective in tech without devoting a significant portion of time to learning and/or research. This should not be a perkβ¦ itβs a mandatory aspect of being a responsible tech professional. twitter.com/nmoutschen/staβ¦Post details

I doesnβt need to be a 20% strict boundary, just giving teams the space and freedom to acknowledge when they need to spend some time on learning/research. That said, Iβve observed that without strict βrulesβ many folks donβt feel comfortable to take this type of time.Lou βοΈ π¨βπ»ποΈββοΈπΈπ΄π»ββοΈπ (@loujaybee)Sun, 16 Jan 2022 10:16 GMT

Fun fact, the infamous Sony Playstation 2 Development Tool, which while much larger shared a lot of design elements with the consumer Playstation 2, are both based off of their now demolished Sony Playstation Tool building in the Ginza district of Tokyo, Japan.
