Are you familiar with the “tech filibuster”? It’s when a dude (it’s always a dude) argues a point and only proves their point by out lasting everyone else in the conversation. Doesn’t matter if they are right or wrong because they will be the last one standing and get their way.

Reading manuals is extremely helpful. I discovered the "accept-new" option for ssh strict host key checking and now I can delete my buggy code for manually populating known_hosts. 😅 Does exactly what it says. If the host key not in known_hosts, add it. Fail otherwise.Anton Medvedev (@antonmedv)Tue, 11 Jan 2022 19:04 GMT

ooouuughhhh this thread is BS and im annoyed the robot isn't leaking fluid. it uses computer vision to futilely keep the fluid within an arbitrary zone; it's about automated surveillance and border control, not robot depression or whateveraidan lang syne (@AerialShading)Tue, 11 Jan 2022 01:16 GMT

I hope that the tech industry moves to a point where people can admit to not being geniuses, ninjas, or rockstars and have that be a positive. I hope that people can acknowledge that there is more to learn, and love that, rather than trying to one-up each other.Ali Spittel 🐞 (@ASpittel)Tue, 11 Jan 2022 16:11 GMT

There is something so creepy about being invited to Zoom events where they offer an Uber Eats or GrubHub credit. "Can't Help Myself" by Sun Yuan & Peng Yu. This robotic arm was programmed to keep pulling its hydraulic fluid it needs to survive back to itself, which is constantly increasingly leaking out. While programmed to do other things, eventually all it could do was fight to survive.Joshua Werner (@JoshuaFrantic)Sun, 09 Jan 2022 17:36 GMT

I love #Veganuary! Went to a corporate event yesterday with a free lunch. Usually all meaty sandwiches and a small plate of veg for us Ⓥ types. This time, about a quarter of the food was vegan and another quarter veggie due to people going meat-free. So nice to have options!Terence Eden (@edent)Sat, 11 Jan 2020 09:01 GMT
