Great article from Pragmatic Engineer but this career/experience ladder seems off to me. Not looking to gatekeep but I’m surprised one can be called a senior engineer in 3 years. Thoughts? or maybe shade, since this feels like I’m walking into it 😬

I worry that very soon wearing a mask will be seen as negativity/fear mongering & people will try to ban them. Folks want the ability to harm without feeling bad or being reminded of the harm. The responsibility of quieting that discomfort will fall on the people being cautious.

I think it is a mistake to tie career ladders to years of experience, and that instead they should be defined by the scope and scale of projects someone is able to execute independently on. Years of experience are meaningless, demonstrated competence is all that matters.
