I don’t watch the show Unexpected, but a random episode happened to be on while I prepared for bed and I am BAFFLED by how many men I heard say that childbirth is “not that bad”. If someone said this while I was giving birth, if I had enough energy, I’d lose it.

LaTeX is a system of macros that works on top of TeX, a notoriously arcane typesetting program written by Don Knuth. The default constructions tend to be, er, liberal with vertical space and line breaks, and telling the typesetter "hey, can you not" often needs TeXBook wizardry.
