UNIX epoch time uses a signed 32-bit counter for seconds since 1970. It's only good for ~68 years, will roll over in 2036. NTP uses an *unsigned* 32-bit counter, so it's good for 136 years. But it counts from 1900, will roll over in 2036. <sigh>
