Tomomi Imura loves two things: The web, and cats. It's only reasonable that she combine them in everything that she does. She talks to Scott about Code and Creativity, Making things, Raspbrry Pis, Javascript, and Cats as a Service.
You're halfway to Mars. God-Emperor Musk remotely logs into your ship. The computer blithely chirps "To access this spacecraft's full oxygen capacity, please deposit 5 ElonCoin." You check the exchange rate. That's nearly 3 litres of blood! Sighing, you grab the needle again.Post details
Later on, while the car is parked in his driveway, Tesla calls him to tell him that they found and fixed a configuration mistake with his car. They remotely software locked the car to be a 60 again, despite having been a 90 for years. He now has ~80 miles less range. (3/*)Jason Hughes (@wk057)Mon, 25 Jul 2022 23:36 +0000

How do beginners learn Go? This episode is meant to engage both non-Go users that listen to sister podcasts here on Changelog, or any Go-curious programmers out there, as well as encourage those that have started to learn Go and want to level up beyond the basics. On this episode we’re aiming to answer questions about ...

Just months ago, systematically deporting people to a country they have no connection to was a far-right fantasy. Now both candidates for PM are promising to not only keep the Rwanda policy, but expand it. This racist scheme is being normalised - we must fight to scrap it.Nadia Whittome MP (@NadiaWhittomeMP)Mon, 25 Jul 2022 10:25 +0000
I could fix it, but it shouldn't be needed for auth which is a simple form -> post to backend. If blocking things for privacy purposes breaks their site, then they're doing bad things for consumer data and I want no part of them for our renewal.Matt Brunt (@Brunty)Mon, 25 Jul 2022 11:18 +0000

Originally published on July 11, 2016. Negotiation is an important skill for software engineers. The salary you negotiate at the beginning of your job could be a difference of tens of thousands of dollars over the course of an engineer’s career, but intimidating recruiters and exploding offers scare many engineers from negotiating at all. I ask, because frankly, I don’t know if anyone has ever done that to me, which suggests either it’s weird on my part, no one ever thinks of me, or both. Lol. 😅

Maybe this is a me thing, but when someone I ain’t talked to in a minute randomly pops in my head, I like to send a quick message to them. Let them know I thought of them, hope they’re well, etc. Does anyone else do this? Is this weird?Kyle Shevlin (@kyleshevlin)Mon, 25 Jul 2022 02:32 +0000

Yeah that’s one of the most special days for a new medical student. You don’t need an anti-science, anti-medicine speaker being a part of it. UM was within their rights to invite her. Students were within their rights to walk out.

Same with donating blood. If you stab someone you can't be compelled to donate blood to them, even if it would save their life. Even after you die your blood/organs can't be harvested even though you don't need them anymore.Kat (@valliant)Mon, 25 Jul 2022 06:10 +0000
