I once worked on a binary that mysteriously contained a JavaScript interpreter, a Python interpreter, a PDF decoder, and Xlib. Tracked it down to a single log statement that was using a web-capable print library. Delete the log statement, delete the insanity. For a while, anyway.

I'm not annoyed by this bug, just mystified by how it happens: somehow, every time I add the sqlite amalgamation — sqlite.c and sqlite.h — to my @PlatformIO_Org project, it adds Doom as one of my dependencies. Easy to work around, but puzzling and also KIND OF HILARIOUS.

oh goddamn it OKAY Y'ALL I FIGURED IT OUT. SQLite has a line where if you haven't configured it, it tries to include a config.h file. Because the @arduino mbed core includes Doom in its libraries — which has an unrelated config.h file — the dependency checker tries to pull it in.
