To everyone who ever said I didn’t “look autistic”, know that I’m constantly running ActLikePeopleExpect.exe in my brain, am not always aware I’m doing it, and it’s eating up at least 50% of my RAM. It’s also the reason for a lot of CPU overheating.

I've set up a self deprecation accountability scheme at work with a few other women, so that if anyone says "this is probably a silly question" or "this might be a stupid idea" someone else will message the group to tell them it's not stupid

This certainly happened, but I don’t think it was ever “the standard”. The fact that it worked, though, made me stoked 100% of the time. I’ll counter with the fact that when this happens, it almost always worked fine for the user.

Remember way back in the day when the standard for writing Chef recipes was basically "fuck the DSL, we'll write raw Ruby!" ? Before everyone realized maybe that wasn't the best idea? I just saw AWS CDK code for the first time, and boy, things sure do seem familiar

I've never been good at to-do lists - I never remember to actually look at the list, and if I set notifications I often miss or ignore them. Sometimes I just put events in my calendar when I need to do things. Anyone like me & got a better system that actually works for them?

An excellent post & set of reflections. One thing to always check is the pension - that's often missing from adverts and negotiations. Obviously hard to compare DB and DC schemes.
