"Hopefully now I've written this down, I'll remember how this works next time without having to come and look up all the instructions ..." direct quote from a blog post written by past-Lorna. The one I just had to go and read in order to perform that same task again. I laughed.

This is complete disrespect for the to the open source community. Definitely NOT OK. Furthermore, how would you ever trust Copilot to such complex code? If it is good, it is a plain copy without attributions. If the copy is imperfect, it will have random bugs.Alexis Paques (@AlexisPaques)Sun, 16 Oct 2022 08:44 +0000
(plus, if you use Copilot for such code, you probably do not understand it 🫣)
Alexis Paques (@AlexisPaques)Sun, 16 Oct 2022 08:50 +0000
@github copilot, with "public code" blocked, emits large chunks of my copyrighted code, with no attribution, no LGPL license. For example, the simple prompt "sparse matrix transpose, cs_" produces my cs_transpose in CSparse. My code on left, github on right. Not OK.Tim Davis (@DocSparse)Sun, 16 Oct 2022 01:47 +0000

I don't know, man. The response to the soup/Van Gogh incident kinda proves the activists' point. People had an immediate emotional reaction to the desecration of art, but we let the daily desecration of our planet slide.Noah Gittell (@noahgittell)Fri, 14 Oct 2022 21:43 +0000

JKR saying "It is dangerous to assert that any category of people deserves a blanket presumption of innocence" in reference to trans people is pretty scary shit ngl.

When men refer to themselves as "alpha males", I hear that in the context of software, where alpha versions are unstable, missing important features, filled with flaws, and not fit for the public.

I never understood what the purpose of this was. The issue list is a list of warnings that users should be aware of. Old stale issues are doubly important in this regard.

One of the worst things on Github is any bot that autocloses issues. There are so many that people keep coming back to comment on just because the devs didn't manage to care about it, it's still an issue, and some bot insists that it's not.
Henrik Pauli (@phl82)Fri, 14 Oct 2022 09:31 +0000
This bot is very useful, it automatically fixes all issues after 30 days. 10/10, can recommend! Get rid of all your bugs using this handy trick! (I have no idea why this is useful and every open source project using it should feel ashamed)Nilstrieb (@Nilstrieb)Fri, 14 Oct 2022 11:37 +0000

I don’t know if I will ever get kids but I’m kind of scared how much I can spoil them financially. Like they could go to movies, or MacDonalds or buy stuff they like independently

I wonder how it feels to have “childhood house” 💀 Or know that if you can’t make rent there’s an option to move in with parents, and not being the one paying yours and their rent

The best thing about discovering I'm autistic is discovering autistic Twitter and Reddit as a result. Every day now I get to read things that resonate. Things that make me laugh & grin.
