it's a shame HBO's Silicon Valley already ended

I feel like these were the plot lines they rejected as being too ridiculous, even for a fiction.

The show Silicon Valley ended and the world compensated.

Let’s be clear about this. The CEO of Twitter can attack his employee’s work publicly all day every day. But when one responds factually and calmly, they get fired. twitter.com/elonmusk/statu…Brianna Wu (@BriannaWu)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 17:05 GMT

There is not enough popcorn.

I’ve seen several examples of this recently. If you are private I would assume anything new that you post is public at this point.

Lost in all this noise, scientists have developed a revolutionary new battery technology that’s based on a membrane 44 times thinner than anything ever used before. It’s foundation is a synthetic version of Elon’s skin.

Gunlynn (@Gunlynnn)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 16:04 GMT
So are you just going to fire anyone who doesn’t agree with you? Workplace culture at its finest.
Warped (@WarpedDC)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 16:09 GMT
he's right though, elon. I work with him - or did until you fired him. employees can't speak their minds...a la free speech and that whole narrative?

If you owned Twitter hopefully you wouldn’t have a 25 followers/65 followers ratio. 🫵
Spotify Raheem (@AdamUltraberg)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 16:51 GMT
Elon started this conversation by complaining about a feature in public, he should fire himself

Perhaps not a monolith, but properly sized and scoped services. I’ve called this “macroservices” in the past ironically - maybe it’s time to use it seriously now lol. And there’s prior art here too …Post details
Lol - we’ve seen this movie before, with Dropbox too. See my previous tweet: twitter.com/copyconstruct/… And “Macroservices” was a term I used sardonically in the past (and many of the blue checks here dunked on me for that). It’s now truly a thing - who’d have thunk?twitter.com/bibryam/status…Cindy Sridharan (@copyconstruct)Sun, 15 May 2022 15:26 +0000

I suspect you're about to find out what those microservices did and that you actually needed them for other stuff.

Ha! I predicted this correctly! In years of discussions about microservices and how it helps solve the org problem, we never stopped to wonder if the (bloated) org *itself* is the problem. But now that CEOs are convinced companies are overstaffed and org charts need culling 😉twitter.com/elonmusk/statu…Cindy Sridharan (@copyconstruct)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 15:54 GMT
Adult content should be allowed on here 100% But there should be some age verification process for NSFW accounts, where you can’t post/view nsfw material until you get age verified.Killshot Crypto (@KillshotCryptoX)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 15:39 GMT
Nah. How about we ban thing with actual harm, like crypto, and/or no benefit to anyone, like astrology instead? Or you can STFU and let people live their livesAlvaro Ibañez (@AlvaroIM77)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 16:15 GMT
You fired him for knowing more than you, might as well fire everyone then, if those are the grounds

RT @mxbckMastodon and other decentralized services are popular now, but I feel like a lot of the #IndieWeb is still geared towards people with technical knowledge. We have partnered with GitHub to deliver an integration between GitHub Codespaces and JetBrains Gateway! GitHub Codespaces allows users to create a secure, configurable, and dedicated development e
Both twitter and mastodon have the "weird nerds" but instead of trying to defend elon against valid criticism they are trying to defend mastodon against valid criticism.

Correction: branches *cannot* be pushed upstream to origin (that part of Git is 'readonly'). So it's not just main branch. But, practically, this is fine because local branches can be pushed to Phab, which runs its own Git server & does builds, tests etc. So not blocking dev.Gergely Orosz (@GergelyOrosz)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 11:47 GMT

There's something about Mastodon that has this old-timey internet feel to it, if that makes sense. It reminds me of joining an a forum or community online in the late '90s or early 2000s where you really had to learn the mores and personality of the place.Ashton Pittman (@ashtonpittman)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 03:11 GMT
