How things come full circle. Remember when Slack came out, it felt like a productivity increase and something that works better than email. I’ve now resorted to keeping Slack closed most of the time to not get distracted, preferring email as it doesn’t force me to respond ASAP.

He did the same at Facebook on my team. Joined, realised it couldn’t be done with a few overnight Red Bull sessions, and instead required real engineering, then bolted. Real artists ship, real engineers follow through, even if it’s boring

I think the takeaway here is that no matter how smart you are, it’s not realistic to expect to effect meaningful change to complex systems in a short amount of time then leave.
