My #1 feedback in code reviews for more junior developers is to document "why". Everyone wants to add comments on "what" when they first start out. Sometimes that's useful, but we can always figure out "what" given enough time. But the "why" will be lost to time.

Poorly thought out Twitter API allows anyone to find username from a given email; which can help malicious users dox a target (find their alts) or mass tie usernames to emails based off lists. Make sure you aren’t doing this.

The secret sauce few people tell you is to have a great engineering blog, you DO need tech writers who help engineers write, and (most importantly!) edit their writing. But you want someone really technical… often an ex software engineer who writes well. Tough to find/hire

To be clear here, you want engineers work with tech writers and publishing specialists to write the blog. You do not want engineers writing public facing blogs unsupervised. Most can't even write good documentation, let alone understand how sentences work. It goes poorly.

Still, you're absolutely correct about how effective it is, and the timeframe. Riot's tech blog is a phenomenal example of how to do it right, and it threads the needle of being clearly technically driven but smooth enough you don't feel like you're reading Go docs.

1. I like maths, I think it's a vital skill. 2. Sunak doesn't give a fuck about maths skills or education. He wants a headline that isn't about NHS crisis, fuel costs or strikes. 3. If people were more numerate they'd know when inflation is 10%+ a 5% "rise" is a pay cut.
