This isn't a function of the process, this is because most people applying for the job are perfectly adept at programming. The people who fail this process aren't ones who are unqualified, generally. It is the ones who struggle with the process, usually the marginalized ones.Post details
Google’s interview philosophy is to minimize the risk of hiring unqualified people. That sometimes means turning away qualified people, but on average they seem to hire the best people. Their process works from their perspective. I don’t see it as a good option to remove coding
