Woop! I'm seeing a 404 when I refresh your first post - not sure what's up 😅

Nice, glad the government is as forward thinking as I thought you would be 😉 any idea how technical/hands-on the role would be, or would it be more standards building / building stuff around standards and then telling people how to do things?

https://www.jvt.me/posts/2021/03/31/git-origin-head/ may be of interest as a fairly well supported way of getting upstream default branch - I'm interested in this too though so I'll have a play with it tomorrow too

Sorry the tag didn't work properly the first time Daryl Cecile and Project Function

Because https://www.jvt.me/posts/2020/09/01/against-online-tooling/ I've got a utility called unpack which unpacks/pretty-prints things like JSON, JWTs, Base64 etc. Then I use pu which is a platform agnostic way of piping clipboard into unpack

I've been asked about not posting the full content on the feed as all my content has made the consumer hit size limits on their feed reader 😂

Many people I know find it exclusive, even when it's clearly not meant that way, but still doesn't sound great ie "well done to the guys in that team". Even if you and your team treat it as a gender-neutral term, it's not gonna be seen the way outside of your group so it's always better to avoid it

https://www.jvt.me/posts/2017/06/25/blogumentation/ is pretty popular at the moment, and drives the reasoning behind most of the content of my blog 🥳

https://commentpara.de/ is a service for anonymous replies to things, but otherwise there'd need to be something set up i.e. for your mum to use, such as https://micro.blog or one of the other hosted IndieWeb platforms

Why would they announce this the weekend I've learned how to do stuff with Lambda@Edge?!

+1 on this - by all means share out after its on your own site, but having the ownership is the ideal 👍🏽

Really appreciate the reply, Tom! Looks like I found a solution (that I'm just writing up in a blog post) which I can also raise as a PR to the docs, as it's a common search on Google it seems 😅

So sorry to hear this Ana, thank you for sharing ♥

Telling people they can't bring it to work arguably means people can't talk about being trans or gay, because there are still people out there who feel very strongly against those things. In the US, talking about not being able to go to hospital because of the way health insurance works is something that would also be excluded if you don't wanna talk anything sociopolitical

I remember being at our work Christmas party when the general election results came out, and that was not a fun evening for some of my colleagues, learning how the people they work with daily are voting for policies that actively want to exclude them. Was a pretty awful night and showed that politics at work isn't good always, but it's probably better than not knowing at all 😅

Why not onto hollybrockwell.com? Then folks looking for your writing get to read it straight on your site and you can link out to the I.e. Gizmodo articles. Would 100% recommend your own site, especially as you've got one!

If it helps the ending is so lovely and 🧡 that I didn't mind it ending as much

We've found it to work quite well on my team, as it allows folks to see things they're not necessarily involved in, and actively seeks out their thoughts, as well as not leaving it up to the PR raiser to decide who

(Although we're currently using the "round Robin" approach)

It also doesn't mean others can't review
