Nice! After a couple of years of umming and ahhing about it, I finally did it a few weeks back, and so far haven't missed anything!
Kind replies
Haha thanks, pretty good for the UK, in a city with lower cost of living! The US have much more ridiculous salaries!
I'd personally reach for Sinatra, but I'm also not as much of a Rubyist, so chances are there are some other options!
I wish I knew where on Facebook my posts were being shared, or whether it includes things like WhatsApp too
Happy birthday 🎂 🎉 🎈
Erm yeah can do - I usually delete them when the original post has been deleted, until then they're public and available anyway 😄
I usually do git commit --fixup
and then git rebase -i --autosquash
when I'm done with the branch, even less to think about!
I ended up doing this with just listing all the repos I'm in, then checking for issues, all via the API. Bit awkward, but it works!
Oh no, hope you're ok 😥
👋🏽 I've definitely been through it a couple of times, and am pretty sure I'm in a small burnout phase too
Hugo on AWS Cloudfront, deployed with GitLab CI. Because of how large my site is, it takes ~8 minutes to push a single post ie this reply, so I'm glad I'm on a fast SSG, but I'm planning on converting it to a dynamic site soon
Is there anything we can try to do to make it clearer?
Dell UltraSharp 27 USB-C Hub Monitor - U2722DE is what I use and it works pretty well ☺
We're Ruby (on Rails), with some Scala, and TypeScript and Go. A small bit of Java but primarily all the other things 🤓
As someone new to Go, there's some interesting stuff in there and it's been fun looking at breaking down and migrating codebases where appropriate
We're doing a fair bit at Deliveroo Engineering
I've got hi@ listed publicly, me@ is an old email that only sus email comes into now (because I've not used it in so long and it's probably data breaches) and then have ie facebook@ to split services down. I use name@ for general purpose
Oh sorry completely missed "self-hostable" 😥
Have you seen https://micro.blog?
GitLab unless the project is already on or is tied to GitHub
Ooh nice, I'd looked at doing this purely using the RSS feed as a bit of a hack option 👀
https://brid.gy/twitter/lordmatt doesn't show any publish failures, got a link to where you're seeing the failures?
Do you mean for workflows that would only run on ie main
? Or have you got it configured so PR builds of workflows don't use the new workflow definition until its merged?
+1 for Arch Unit and jMolecules ie https://www.jvt.me/posts/2022/01/28/spring-boot-onion-architecture/
When I bought my house (in the UK) I went through a broker who got me a much better deal than I could find myself, and was £700 total to save me tonnes of money, while also explaining the process to me fully / answering questions before I'd paid anything ☺
Is there a way to manually backfill, aside from getting your own Twitter app?
I've got a blog post on my backlog to write about how I've started learning Go, which may or may not help. What background do you have / experience with other languages?
Not sure when I'll get around to writing the post, though
You're welcome, it's in the theme itself so under layouts
, and wherever the post's content is being rendered. If you look for .Content
you may find it
We're doing it at Deliveroo Engineering
Oh my yeah I get that, that sounds very extreme 😂
I recently did so much of my house's outside surfaces and it's so satisfying 😌
I'm definitely the opposite - all about overcomplicating simple things 😂
I do similar with my step counts from Google Fit - https://www.jvt.me/kind/steps/ - which is synced nightly. Do you need a native app, or just fancy it?
And more Vegan, too
Congrats to you both 👏🏽👏🏽
Looks good, was there a reason for not using something like Dependabot, WhiteSource Renovate etc?
One thing I'll always remember from FOSDEM a few years back was him doing a live demo, having technical issues and he literally took a fresh laptop out of his bag and started doing the demo on that one. Being so prepared and smooth when going through demos or speaking is a huge one I see in great speakers like Scott!
Nice to see I'm still a very high publisher 🫣
I know my retries were broken for quite some time so that wasn't ideal, but I wonder why GitHub is so high, as I barely publish to it.
Maybe because it allows updates to the syndicated text?
Are you implying that not self hosting infrastructure means it's not owned by me? We've got to be pragmatic and allow some things to be not run by us, especially if you want things to become mainstream
I've had one of these in a box for years. Really need to get round to installing it cause damn that looks amazing
Have you seen indieweb.org/why before? It's what we're trying to do, and is ie how I can own my reply to you, on Twitter, but using my own site as the source of that interaction, using open protocols and standards
KeePassXC, with Keepass2Android, synced via various means

👏🏽 I'm everywhere

More API documentation related, but gov.uk have some great docs on how to document https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-document-apis
I used to say "almost 6"" then realised that was pretty weird 😅
I've got a playlist called Pumped (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/664XTaQfwj0vnSHxrI6tXc?si=v7NrS1AtQ3qDD1r_8NXbKg) which works quite well. There are a few artists in here that hopefully you'll like 🤞🏽
