This blog post will explore why sharing SBOMs is vital for software transparency and discuss how to generate SBOMs using sbom.sh efficiently.

It's 2023, and it's time for a totally new way to run your tests. Here's how the new TLDR test runner can save you from a life of avoiding your slow tests

Years ago, @paulcuth introduced me to a life-changing conference. Not only did I find my current job through chatting with people there, but the talks I saw and the people I met throughout the years were the inspiration and acceptance I desperately needed to find. Because of that, I'm over the moon to speak at @ffconf@social.ffconf.org and I hope I can contribute to people feeling as happy at the end of the day as I felt all these previous years as an attendee. See you there? 💖 https://2023.ffconf.org/

holy shit, #Spritely is hiring for Developer Relations - https://spritely.institute/news/hiring-open-source-developer-relations-manager.html - if I was US-based I would be ALL over this :blobfoxbongo:
Hackers are breaching GitHub accounts and inserting malicious code disguised as Dependabot contributions to steal authentication secrets and passwords from developers.

If you ever think to yourself, I want to chat with that person, but I don't want to bother them. STOP, go send them a dm, they may also want to chat with you, but feel too anxious to send a dm. In the worst case scenario they will just ignore you, it's fine. Please do dm people

@artcollisions@vis.social The naming was a silly thing. The book was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and then the Gene Wilder movie was financed by the Quaker Oats company who insisted on the name changing as part of cross-promotion of their Wonka brand of candy. And then apparently that didn't even work out because Wonka Bars ended up all melting on store shelves, oops.
[smacks your face] Oh sorry there was some Monday on you. I got it.

> "Do you…want to continue being a backend engineer?" Hey whoa damn way to throw the existential questions at me on a Monday. But I mean yeah. My "full stack" is pear-shaped, with a chunky backend and the simplest frontend I can come up with.
Why should I care enough to read or behold something no one cared enough to actually make?
I think the best response I've seen to AI anything has been, "Why should I bother reading something that nobody could be bothered to write"
PRIVATE git hosting is the easiest thing in the world because git was set up for that long before github, all you need is a directory you're happy to use for it on a server you can ssh into

In case you haven't heard, it's Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Not to be confused with Cyber Security Awareness Month, which has an unfortunate initialism.
Attached: 1 image So apparently dang and the HN crowd are so upset I wrote some messages for HN visitors to our website, that they now banned my home IP address 🙃 Yes, seriously. I get 403s from any device on my home connection, and yet it works fine on 4G. Just when you thought they couldn't get pettier. And no, I haven't been doing any scraping/scripting/anything sus.

one big thing I learned about myself this year: if you acknowledge my work publicly (just anywhere outside of private conversation), I’ll forever be loyal to you. I do so much invisible/glue work that I am weak for this stuff.
Many in tech seem to think that if you disagree with something in tech, you must think that it’s illegal or should be illegal. I think LLMs and diffusion models are unfair and that making or using one is a dick move, but are they illegal copyright violations of the training data? I have no idea, but the repercussions if they aren’t legal would be much wider ranging than most realise.

"An update on <thing you care about>," says the subject line of the email, and all the ex-Google people go "oh no!" (In-joke, sorry.)
Train OH: (from a stereotypical looking "lad" to some very "lad"ish friends) "and yeah so Brighton is great cos you've got like everyone coexisting, like you're out on the town right and there's everyone out, trans people, everyone, and it's like no big deal" (to which another "lad" replied) "yeah man like it should be, it's chill" Tiny bit of faith restored in UK society
Is everybody ready for their gender presentations today? 🧐
Attached: 1 image @tattie@cutie.city I have waited two years, ten months, and fifteen days for the perfect moment to unleash this as a reaction image. 🫡

I'm out now. No more hiding. I get to grow breasts and wear dresses and cute shoes! Oh, that shower scene from childhood actually happened? Shit. Oh, "Running Pussy" was a high school nickname that really fucked me up? Shit. Oh, I can't actuall buy cute shoes because I'm a monster. Shit. Oh, people literally want me dead. Shit. Oh, some of those people are related to me and say they love me while *still* wanting me dead. Shit. Oh, I have no idea what my sexuality is and if I try to figure it out I'm a freak. Shit. Oh, this idea pretty much destroyed my life. Shit. Oh, I'm supposed to be so much happier now? Well shit.
Keep this handy for future use!
