Fill in the form and I'll mail a handwritten card to you - anywhere in the world! 🙌 You can also send me one too, if you want 🙂 https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfl2ieHsDJiXFgPzEdPu4h3dXjUoBkf8GIsGIxi4R2es3McgA/viewform?usp=pp_url&entry.574334228=Mastodon #ChristmasCards

All set up for Advent of Code tomorrow! https://github.com/mrwilson/advent-of-code-2023 I'll be doing it using jq, but this time I've written a little test framework in rust on top of libjq (called jqunit, obviously) to make it easier to stage out the functionality in later, trickier puzzles. I'll be tooting my progress on here, and posting my solutions each day. #AdventOfCode

I can't emphasize enough to cis people that the term "euphoria" was chosen to translate what transition feels like because there are no other words you will associate with a feeling like this — which you obviously cannot feel. But it is not a superlative. Transitioning is the greatest relief and elation I've ever experienced. There is not a word that contains all of it. I wish I'd never experienced all that torture I didn't know I was enduring, but I wouldn't change a thing. I know things now!

Amazon Q Code Transformation uses #OpenRewrite to accelerate Java upgrades for customers. At AWS, many of our services are built with #OpenSource components and promoting the long-term sustainability of these communities is critical to us and our customers. That is why it’s important for us to contribute back to communities like OpenRewrite, helping ensure everyone can continue to benefit from their innovations. https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/upgrade-your-java-applications-with-amazon-q-code-transformation-preview/ #reinvent #reinvent2023 #FreeSoftware #FOSS #OSS

Cheeky referral link, but a good one: if you're doing your UK tax return (ew) then I recommend Tax Scouts as an affordable accountancy service. I nearly overpaid by £2k this year because I didn't know wtf I was doing. And here's 10% off: https://taxscouts.com/i/SOPHIE395

This whole conference debacle is so disappointing. Speakers, when invited to a conf will say “who alls gonna be there?” I’ve my rules for participation posted on my site - including an inclusive lineup - for years. I was duped by the fake speakers also. I remind all conf organizers that there are THOUSANDS of speakers of all walks of life, genders, ages, backgrounds. I offer 920 for you to invite to your confs http://hanselminutes.com/episodes inclusion means doing the work. So, do the work, friends.

I always thought of [Spoon Theory](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoon_theory) as covering chronic illnesses with physical impact, so I've avoided using it for myself. I say "cognitive resources" instead to describe my similar but not identical #ADHD issues. But maybe I can have a little fun with it. What about "Spork Theory?" I've got an entire damn drawer of resources, but they're individually wrapped, not reusable, not well-suited to any one task, and break if you try too hard.

Ah, would you look at that, after a few days of respite following Halloween, the bellends with fireworks are back to scare the living shit out of pets like our puppy, folks with PTSD, etc. PS. Wanna hear a joke? Fireworks are illegal in Ireland. #ireland #fireworks #bellends #pets #ptsd
