I dunno, Tech Twitter is cringy as fuck sometimes. It's like that episode of Black Mirror where you have to be fake happy and make forced corny chit chat just to gain stars. Except it never stops and just gets more and more cringe.Michael JS Fox (@michaeljsfox)Sun, 19 Dec 2021 09:42 GMT
I booked my booster jab for next week, but every time I see headlines I just want to get it right now. Wild how this uncertainty on COVID still lingers on, over a year later. I’m trying to look at the bright side of things, but also want to be vocal on how this all sucks.Pauline P. Narvas 🐾💪🏼💜 (@paulienuh)Sun, 19 Dec 2021 08:43 GMT
There is going to be continued focus on log4j vulns for some time. It is very important to know not every new vulnerability is equal, or likely to be exploited.

Important to know the vulnerability hype train is in full force for Log4j at the moment. A reminder that log4j is maintained by a small group of volunteers, up against multi billion dollar security industry and news media that profit from rewriting what they say to sound scary.Kevin Beaumont (@GossiTheDog)Sun, 19 Dec 2021 00:25 GMT

The log4j disaster makes those DORA measures seem even more prescient. How quickly can teams move to get a mitigation into a production environment is directly tied to lead time, frequency, failure rate, etc. Requiring long "baking" cycles for changes is a security anti-pattern.

To build on Jen's excellent point - for some of us, there is also no "getting back to normal after this is all over". And being brutally honest, none of us may ever get back to life as we knew it pre-Covid. The sooner we all process and accept this, the better for everyone.
