Woke simple means that you care about the well-being of people in marginalized communities. Being anti-woke means telling people that there are no marginalized people so just shut up about it because you're making me uncomfortable. This is why I am proudly woke.

Welp. It’s the crypto bug of the year. Mark it down for April. Java 15-18 ECDSA doesn’t sanity check that the random x coordinate and signature proof are nonzero; a (0,0) signature validates any message. Breaks JWT, SAML, &c. neilmadden.blog/2022/04/19/psy…

I cannot discourage you more from viewing this as a desirable career path. It might work for one or two rare people but between the lack of time spent building and the rapid growth in management it's as likely to result in a poor skill set than long term success

You can always add additional automation later on. Sometimes the manual step with documentation is the right place to start.

🧠 Friendly reminder: if you give feedback to a software tool that automatically creates screenshots, check the screenshot before sending them. Often it takes a screenshot of both your screens and if the second one shows porn, that's not good.

I once met a man on a train in Serbia who was trying to travel to every single country, and the minimum definition was one sleep and one beer. I’ve got about 50 done (35 entirely by bike) and now I can finally tick off Vatican City. I wasn’t expecting to find a beer, but I did!

I worry that very soon wearing a mask will be seen as negativity/fear mongering & people will try to ban them. Folks want the ability to harm without feeling bad or being reminded of the harm. The responsibility of quieting that discomfort will fall on the people being cautious.

I think it is a mistake to tie career ladders to years of experience, and that instead they should be defined by the scope and scale of projects someone is able to execute independently on. Years of experience are meaningless, demonstrated competence is all that matters.
