When I was just starting out in tech, I was taking thoughts posted by "famous" people in tech at face value. It was much later that I gained the experience to know that they don't apply for my context and situation. It's all contextual, and most those thoughts are just opinions.

That's an exaggeration, if you've done `git status` and have seen what would be staged, then `git add .` can be okay, but even then we'd be better recommending `git add -pi`, which allows interactive staging of files; no more committing stuff you didn't mean to.

Tech conferences are something that I will never understand. I usually lose the speaker in the first 2 minutes and spend the rest bored. In general I don't think presentations are a good way of conveying technical ideas. I find live coding in particular super confusing.
