My thinking was that GDS would be a learning organisation, or at least one willing to listen. Some parts did. Many parts did not. This had consequences. Technical consequences and "need to refactor" consequences. I realised I had only enough energy for limited fights.

As GDS has a reputation for being an exemplar then there is a belief that the processes and technology choices are, in some way "right". Challenging assumptions in an organisation that believes itself to be "right" causes conflict.
