What's the German word for being able to afford almost every little thing you desired as a kid, but feeling nothing shortly after purchasing those dream items?
One of the worst sex offenders in recent history served as a Met officer for 20 years.
Despite the police being repeatedly told of allegations, he was allowed to serve, carry a gun and use his position to assault women.
This is not a “bad apple”. The problem is institutional.
What really fucks me off is that there are protests against this blocking the bill rubbish but I’m now too scared to protest in case I get arrested, because I’d lose my job at the bank. But that’s exactly what the govt wanted isn’t it. I wasn’t planning on doing anything illegal but given that someone literally got arrested for a placard that said “fuck imperialism, abolish monarchy” I don’t even know what’s “allowed” any more

Men don’t need to go to the trouble of changing their legal gender and infiltrating women’s spaces to sexually assault them, like TERFs would have you believe. Why would they when they can just join the Met Police and get away with it for decades

You cannot assume a linux user has a home directory, or username.
Many docker containers use a bare UID with no user or home.
Two different packages this week failing silently because, after 2 hours of struggling, it turns out they depend on a home dir.
This is a full-frontal attack on our democratically elected Scottish Parliament and it's ability to make it's own decisions on devolved matters. @scotgov will defend the legislation & stand up for Scotland’s Parliament. If this Westminster veto succeeds, it will be first of many

How can a tiny mistake by a single engineer have these type of consequences? Where is QA? How is the code migration process? SO MANY QUESTIONS! They should not blame the developer!
Yes, I'm also aware that @phil_nash and I on the same team may well have started some sort of DevRel singularity. But at this stage I'm just mostly excited to see how many of my emails he gets.
Delighted to announce that I am back in the #DevRel game for 2023.
I've joined @SonarSource as a developer advocate for JavaScript and TypeScript, alongside the fantastic @pmckee, @gamesbrainiac, and @phil_nash.
Now, what are the JS events I should be getting out to this year?
