We move forward from this with a heavy heart, but we believe in Jeff's vision and what he wanted to build. We will continue everyday trying to create content he would be proud of and honor his legacy.

Are you good at social media?
Would you like to help get a bit of the UK Government onto the Fediverse?
This might be the job for you!

As an asexual learning that when people say someone is “hot” it means they’re sexually aroused by them is still wild to me.
I always used “hot” as a synonym for aesthetically pleasing 😩
Twitter closed the APIs off more after that and killed a lot of third party apps. The company was just in the process of showing third party devs that it could be trusted again when the sale to Elon happened.
It’s the reason Twitter still exists. The platform took off originally because people were building third party apps to do all kinds of things that weren’t possible in the client. They were implementing features that people wanted before the Twitter dev team could.
Shell's obscene £32,200,000,000 profits reminds us it's not a cost-of-living crisis because there's not enough wealth.
It's a cost-of-living crisis because the super-rich have hoarded all the wealth.
If a developer ever says, "I'm just building a simple blog."
It means that they're going to spend 500 hours creating a custom CMS to write two blog posts.
truly hope that nobody writes a twitter API library using the official client’s API keys, as that would almost certainly violate their terms of service.
these are the keys that they would want to avoid using:

I've given many talks about how mobile apps can't be deployed with a secret, and using Twitter's 2013 "hacks" as an example. I'm just going to leave this completely unrelated string of random …
Sole remaining log4net maintainer here. Also falls under Apache logging. Also not paid for my time - none of us are, and there's never enough of it. I'm thankful to all the people who submit PRs. Releases are a lot of work. Hoping to get one out this week tho.
It works! I am now a full-time independent open-source maintainer. I'm announcing my first cohort of six clients, and sharing some details of how the model works.

Holy shit, it works! I am officially a full-time #ProfessionalMaintainer ✨🧑💻💼
That means I spend most of my time on #OpenSource maintenance, and I offer retainers to companies that benefit from my work and from access to me.
I now have six amazing clients: Glasklar Teknik AB, Protocol Labs, Latacora, the Interchain Foundation, Smallstep, and @tailscale@hachyderm.io.
I am excited and relieved to announce this, and wrote up a bunch of details on how I got here and where it's going.

Shell just recorded £32 billion in profit.
3,000 people in the UK die every year because they can't afford to heat their homes.
There’s nothing pragmatic about letting greed run rampant while the poorest freeze to death.
Energy is a public good. It should be in public hands.
This is sad. I've been providing hugs on Twitter for over three years now (has it really been that long???)
This bot isn't monetized, the hugs are truly free so there's no way I can pay for API access.
Unless @elonmusk changes his mind this bot will stop giving hugs next week😭
Post details
Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead 🧵

It has been a scary few days but I’m incredibly greatful to be here. If I lived in another country without our NHS there’s no way I could’ve afforded the level of care I received. Support our heroes on strike and our amazing system 💜 #NHS#nhsstrikes
My mom saw this photo and said “your legs look huge” (derogatory)
Parents, please never speak to your children this way about their bodies. It doesn’t matter if they’re 5 or 35.
My “huge” legs are strong and beautiful. I wish my mom could see that too.
