I guess this is something of another TODO list, to keep myself accountable. Home Finish organizing the office (waiting for some rack shelves to arrive for the server rack that I repurposed as office …

There's a lot I don't know yet, but no sense in delaying with what I do know – hi, my name is Robin and I'm trans.
I'll be going by Robin Riley, and using they/them pronouns for the foreseeable future. And it's going to take ✨ time ✨ to update my info everywhere, so please bear with me.

Great to see Ghostty (ghostty.org) hit 1.0 and finally be public. I've been on the beta since October 2023 and it's been a privilege to watch it evolve. And in a stroke of terminal serendipity, Berkeley Mono V2 was released today too - the Semi Condensed version is :chefs-kiss:
Since he began working for us, Sisyphus has demonstrated dedication and determination, resulting in constant improvement in his job performance. Though he excels at tasks performed alone, he brings professionalism, enthusiasm and a team-first attitude to work every day. All in all a model employee.
A lot of you will be getting items with those little silica gel packets in tomorrow, and of course it goes without saying because it’s pretty obvious, but I’ll say it anyway - the absolute best place to get recipes for dishes where you can use those is Google Gemini
Watching the Dr Who proms and remembering that at one point I played the Royal Albert Hall. That was a helluva experience. Sometimes I forget I’ve done more in my 40-something years than the average human, yet I still struggle with the … you know, *human* stuff,
we're firm believers that the best time to write the docs for a thing is as you learn it for the very first time. the longer you wait, the harder you'll find it to remember all the tiny details that tripped you up.
First family gathering after coming out (again)!
Everyone has been supportive but still, I was awash with doubt and nerves going in. They asked good questions, and didn't make a big deal of it... and hearing them use my new name was just :meowmeltlove:
Just a few more things to do before I re-introduce myself in a public fashion :heart_trans:
The Forge CLI makes it delightfully easy for developers to build and run apps on the Forge platform. Read our 10 principles for designing successful CLIs.
A few months ago I created a list of tips for software (Slack, Gmail, Github, Zoom, Jira, etc) that are commonly used in many companies (Elastic that I work for included) and I believe can improve productivity, efficiency and enhance collaboration, especially in remote/distributed companies. There's nothing ground breaking or new here, but I like
Events of the last week have me thinking about something that’s true in a lot of contexts. A lot of people like to have control of a relationship; control of a situation; control of the message; or in this case, control of a community. I get it, realizing that you don’t have control can be unsettling. But in reality, not having control is the natural order of things and you’ll have a much better time of it once you realize that.
Occasionally I wake up in the middle of the night and research foreign residency requirements bc the most powerful people/institutions in the world are intent on destroying me, so I have immense empathy for politicians scared a poor 23 year old trans communist will call them cis scum or whatever.

Wired: “You’re not a switch, you’re a dom who sometimes wants to be held and told everything is going to be okay.”

Someone in my life was recently talking about masked autism in adults:
The naive clinician or therapist asks, "do you have difficulty with socks?" and the autistic adult says no and concludes they don't have autism
The really knowledgeable one asks, "so tell me about socks," and receives a massive infodump about the very specific choices they made about socks and comfort
I've been reading *a lot* recently and it's very clear that the worst virus to infect this planet is Christianity, with Capitalism and Theocracy as the worst side effects
a montage as I code with intent for the first time in a long while. It seems that I make the same face when I code as I do when I spar.
A thing I do as someone with profound ADHD, is that when I can focus, I record myself talking a process out and then I use the transcription to stub out my code.

We don't really do Christmas in the Eden household but decided to do a roast to celebrate the Winter Solstice. Happy Solar New Year to all who celebrate!
