I’m trying to redesign my website, and it’s hard to balance the conflicting goals of “make it possible to find your way around and keep things readable” vs “have a fucking personality”

I often suggest ideas that pop into my head. Some of them are ones I would personally back, some are ones I wouldn’t back. But my favourite thing to do in meetings is suggest at least one outrageous idea. The more wild the better. Why? Because then all other ideas look more reasonable and allows people to dismiss something and make a decision.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net I've decided to simply blackhole the entire .zip TLD in my DNS config. Maybe one day there will be something valuable on that domain and I'll revisit the decision, but for now it simply doesn't exist as far as all my devices are concerned.

My wife is away for a couple of days and my ADHD has already completely taken hold. Make me realise how completely chaotic and messy my life would be without someone stable around me. ❤️

Attached: 4 images A year ago, I was honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Webbys. I was a little too distracted to properly celebrate it at the time (Glitch was acquired about 48 hrs later) but it was a fun party and we got to dress up and hang out with new friends and old. I said at the time it was the bookend to a certain era of my life and my career, and in retrospect that’s clearly true. I’m grateful to be in the next chapter.

In other, better news: I started a new job at Pod Point (EV charger company) around a month ago and I've really been enjoying it! It's great to be back in a role where I'm focusing on a product that I can have some ownership over and to be working on something that I actually care about!

I wish RubyGems had some kind of "org owner" type thing. There are gems effectively owned by previous employers, but nobody on the owners list works there anymore. Fortunately current employees are able to reach former employees, but this seems like a fragile system

I paid to go through a private diagnosis because my undiagnosed and untreated ADHD was destroying my life.
