Events of the last week have me thinking about something that’s true in a lot of contexts. A lot of people like to have control of a relationship; control of a situation; control of the message; or in this case, control of a community. I get it, realizing that you don’t have control can be unsettling. But in reality, not having control is the natural order of things and you’ll have a much better time of it once you realize that.

Occasionally I wake up in the middle of the night and research foreign residency requirements bc the most powerful people/institutions in the world are intent on destroying me, so I have immense empathy for politicians scared a poor 23 year old trans communist will call them cis scum or whatever.

Someone in my life was recently talking about masked autism in adults: The naive clinician or therapist asks, "do you have difficulty with socks?" and the autistic adult says no and concludes they don't have autism The really knowledgeable one asks, "so tell me about socks," and receives a massive infodump about the very specific choices they made about socks and comfort

I was a jailer for two years. Not proud of it, I needed the money. One of the repeat offenders we had was an old man who was HIV positive. He went to jail several times while I was working there and always for the same thing. He would shoplift items from a store while in full view of a cop. This old man had a cane and could barely walk. There was no way he expected to get away with it. After he was arrested we had to process him and the medical questions always led back to his HIV diagnosis. The state provided him with his HIV medication while he was awaiting trial where he always pleaded guilty. He was always released after serving less than 60 days pretrial. Upon release, he was given six months worth of his HIV medications (which he needed to survive) and he would shoplift again when he ran out of medication. It would have been cheaper for the state to just give him the medications without him needing to be part of the criminal justice system first. He was shoplifting so he could stay alive. #Healthcare #luigimangione #denydefenddepose #Anticapitalism #EatTheRich

Attached: 1 image While it wasn't a planned "1.0 feature", the first major #OPA version is substantially faster than previous versions. I didn't even intend to work on #OPA at the time, but started looking into how to reduce the eval time of #Regal linting some of the largest projects. And well, one thing led to another. The 10-20% improvement mentioned is a modest estimate. Regal is about 50% faster, and many other types of policies likely to see similar improvements in evaluation time.

True story: my mum worked for the MoD. She was in the kitchen at Sandhurst once and Prince Andrew walked in. Everyone was surprised, no one reacted. He said. 'hm, let's try that again shall we?', then he left the kitchen and walked back in, just to make them all bow properly. Prick.
