Ngl I hate that "build this from scratch" is common as part of interviewing. In 5 years of working as a software eng all I ever did was contribute to large codebases and build on top of existing code. Closest to that is prototyping for a tech design but even then you're not building in isolation...

A reminder for these times.

I was… probably not gonna last much longer at NPM. I was doing really poorly just trying to do what was apparently needed. I wasn’t on a PIP but I was very close to it. And then I was just… given free rein and that’s when cacache/pacote/NPM5 & 6 happened It was kind of incredible [contains quote post or other embedded content]
