A reporter at @stltoday discovered a flaw in a state website that risked exposure of teacher Social Security numbers. He notified the state of the problem and it was fixed. Today, @GovParsonMO labeled the reporter a 'hacker' & vowed criminal prosecution. missouriindependent.com/2021/10/14/mis…

A hacker is someone who gains unauthorized access to information or content. This individual did not have permission to do what they did. They had no authorization to convert and decode the code.

Accessing publicly available information is not hacking. By having the information so easily available, the website did implicitly grant permission to view it.

Nothing was "converted" or "decoded." You literally open a web page, right click, and select "view source code." The SSNs were plainly visible.

My husband first relapsed 2 years ago. It's been a huge source of stress, and this summer was incredibly intense with him in and out of the hospital. I cried tears of joy today when they told us he's now in remission. ♥️ So happy! 🎉🎉🎉

Nothing can make tech events safe until you all actually experience a safe inclusive event. Too many tech folk never matured past high school and want to use in person events to re create school and immature giggles even my children would be ashamed to laugh at

This is why we avoid all these “tech”’events. Bc stuff like this ( if you didn’t see it, a barbie made into a badge, legs splayed, that dispensed hand sanitizer) centers the male gaze and objectification of women and you all write it off as bants and say your events are safe
