Talking about it at #TechNott today but I miss going to meetups; I still attend them - they are still amazing evenings - but I miss leaving work, walking into town for a coffee and then arriving at the event prepared for an interesting gathering of like minds for the evening

This is the BEST use of Zoom I've ever seen. I demand game show format for all future work conf calls 😂

"Don't worry, it gets worse" Stop saying that @edent! I wasn't as worried about some of my smart home kit before this talk!!

One last spicy take before bed: Everyone is entitled to say “my partner” because everyone is entitled to not having to explain the gender and sexuality dynamics of their relationship. Gatekeeping “partner” as a term only hurts queer people, especially bi/pan/closeted ones.

We're getting lots of questions about the game show tonight! 🎉 👉 Yes it will be ridiculous 👉 No, Mr Blobby's not playing 😔 👉 Yes it's all on Zoom 👉 Yes we want you to take part!! But if you don't want to, you don't have to! 👉 Yes of course prizes nott.tech/tn-july-2020

This. I spent so long trying to figure out how I could turn myself into the engineers I admire at Monzo and become a clone of them. Then I realised I should stop doing that, and instead double down on developing the unique blend of skills I have.

My biggest regret in my career is that I spent more time comparing myself to others and worrying about how quickly my coworkers were progressing and not enough time focused on my own progress. Everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds. Be patient! ✍️

Virgin Mobile have an "interesting" approach to online account security. 📋 Can't paste in a password. 🔢 10 characters only. 🔣 No special characters. 🔤 *Must* start with a letter! I understand (but don't agree with) all the restrictions except the last one. What's that about?
