Why not do both, actions and words. People are telling you that the word guys makes them feel excluded. So start with actions, such as listening to them and believing them and then words, like saying "people" or "folks". The decision to ignore them is itself an action.

The language you use is a part of being inclusive, you cannot separate the two. This is such an obvious point I'm surprised I have to make it. When you refer to a group as "guys" you are by the dictionary definition of that word excluding people, which is not inclusive.
