Whenever I got to share good news, I’d always make sure to specify it’s good news EARLY in the message like this. Nothing worse than a person in power springing a surprise on someone they have more power over

Why read any documentation when you could just spam a 20k person chat room instead?

Why would you say it's bad? It's a solid tool run by volunteers.
Jason Pyle (@jason_e_pyle)Mon, 13 Dec 2021 18:34 GMT
100% the vulnerability and exploit are bad and mitigation should be done ASAP. However, that doesn't mean log4j is a bad library to use (which is how I read it and the point I was trying to make is log4j isn't bad, just the vulnerability).

That tiny dopamine rush I get every time I find a new blog I like, input the URL into Reeder and an RSS feed does show up for me to subscribe to. Hitting that subscribe button is a little exhilarating. 😌 Don't judge me.Sara Soueidan (@SaraSoueidan)Thu, 16 Dec 2021 13:20 GMT
I'm doing that on the new site. Hugo was a little pain to work with sometimes so I stopped "fixing" the code. Now i'm working on the new site which should be up in 2022 (soon).

I've written about this before in https://www.jvt.me/posts/2019/01/12/self-code-review/ and hugely recommend it - especially when there's a way to mark it as a Draft so it's clear it's not yet ready for review. After you've added comments, it may need you to address things before it can then go out to others in the team
Always always review your own PR before sending it to your team to review. I always think I'm done. Then I pretend to be someone else and review it, and I end up fixing 20 issues.Mae Capozzi (@MCapoz)Wed, 15 Dec 2021 21:34 GMT
This time 3 years ago I was at the most uncomfortable work meeting of my life. The CEO called a meeting in his home and just berated and belittled leadership for 5 days. Totally demotivating. Toxicity starts at the top.

Why you should be using a well-defined (JSON) Schema for the data classes that your API consumers will need to utilise.

I don't want to embarrass folks like @cassidoo and @techgirl1908. But I'm having a moment where I can see how much has changed about who gets recognition and admiration in the dev community. We are choosing better leaders, and it shows the growth we've been pushing for.Marco Rogers (@polotek)Wed, 15 Dec 2021 21:00 GMT
SQLite supports it natively https://www.jvt.me/posts/2021/11/08/sqlite-csv/ ☺
It looks like you're looking for catchThrowableOfType
, which allows you to receive the correct class:
import static org.assertj.core.api.Assertions.catchThrowableOfType;
SomeException throwable = catchThrowableOfType(() -> service.doSomething(), SomeException.class);
assertThat(throwable.getSomething()).isNotNull();
