The biggest shift in tech for the next years isn't blockchains or "AI" or quantum computing or some other buzzword. Or at least it shouldn't, mustn't be. The biggest shift has to be to change away from "Innovation" as the main driver of work towards care and maintenance.tante (@tante)Sat, 29 Jan 2022 10:30 GMT
Now on the other hand if a company uses open source to profit from, then yes companies should likely have a duty to treat that project as a supplier and act accordingly.

I've been writing open source software for over 20 years and I'd say it's absolutely no one's duty to contribute to anything - that's conferring a moral or legal obligation on people. A thing I hear from many gender-questioning people is the idea they don't "need" to transition, it's not a life-or-death-matter for them, and so they shouldn't do it. One problem with that logic is just how much human beings can get accustomed to quiet low-grade lifelong misery.

A guided example of converting a Spring Boot project to the Onion Architecture pattern.
Every time I think/write about hexagonal architecture, I feel like it's an actual silver bullet. It has so many valuable aspects, e.g. focusing on actor intentions, which allow for better test scenarios, decoupling from specific technologies, which leads to increased testability
