hi @TwitterEng - you broke the fallback case in the tweet embedding js for deleted tweets. Previously they would not be decorated and show the <blockquote> html version. Now they're turned into empty white boxes. Do you want us to go back to screenshots?Kevin Marks (@kevinmarks)Tue, 29 Mar 2022 10:36 +0000

I tried for years to get Spotify to pay open source sponsors but they didn’t want to hear it, nobody wanted that in their budget. Maybe things are changing, I hope my former colleagues can reply with corrections to this: Spotify doesn’t contribute it’s fair share to FOSS it uses.

Meanwhile, at my current employer GitBook (~30 employees), our CEO _asked me_ to organize Open Source sponsorship! We’re on track to spend over $20,000 this year supporting FOSS. opencollective.com/gitbook github.com/orgs/GitbookIO…Hugh Rawlinson (he/him) (@hughrawlinson)Wed, 30 Mar 2022 07:01 +0000
I’m under no illusions that this covers a tech salary, and I know is split across a few projects. We aren’t the ones with an $11b revenue though. 👀 We’re also one user (and one sponsor) in a pool of many for most of our sponsored projects.

The SerenityOS Browser now passes the Acid3 test! 🥳🐞🌍 AFAIK we're the first new open source browser to reach this milestone since the test originally came out. I once saw an ASMR video a woman did where she showed off what she kept in her designer backpack. After showing the cosmetic and hygiene items, she then proceeded to pull out a loaded 1911 and extra mag with no preamble lol

Most of what gets shared as heartwarming stories are usually temporary, small-scale responses to systemic failures. I wish we found it just as inspirational to make structural changes to unjust systems, but I don’t know if our culture knows how to tell those stories.

Compute resources continue to trend towards being cheaper, easier to use, and faster. Despite these positives, more compute demands more energy and therefore an increasing carbon footprint. With many companies committing to controlling their net carbon emissions, tools are required for engineers to not only measure their cloud infrastructure, but to make informed choices about
